Tuguegarao City – The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch II (RCMB2) joined the Department of Labor and Employment – Regional Coordinating Council (DOLE-RCC) in a job and business fair held at the People’s Gymnasium as part of the celebration of the country’s 120th Independence Day on June 12, 2018 themed, “Kalayaan 2018 Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.”

DOLE Assistant Secretary Federico V. Abuan commended the DOLE-RCC family for initiating and coordinating the activity and in harnessing the resources and support of various sectors in trying to solve the unemployment and underemployment problem in the region.

Asec. Abuan expressed his gratitude to the City Government through the leadership of Mayor Jefferson P. Soriano, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), employers and employer groups, representatives of the region’s different local and overseas recruitment agencies, civic organizations, non-government agencies, and the media practitioners as DOLE-RCC’s partners.

“Your coming together to bring more jobs, to give access to employment and livelihood opportunities to the people is a laudable effort that will empower those benefitted to become productive and to contribute in the country’s economic advancement,” Abuan said.

“I believe that there is a strong and clear consensus on the fight against poverty – a consensus that covers labor and business empowerment as a standard strategy for social protection and income generation,” DTI Regional Director Ruben B. Diciano said.

The job and business fair program is an employment facilitation strategy to achieve efficiency in labor markets to attain shorter job search time, lower job search cost and better job matching for the jobseekers.  It showcases products of entrepreneurs specifically from the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela and encourages more people to go into enterprising as a means of generating income and providing more jobs.

Other DOLE-RCC members who participated in the event were representatives from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
