General Santos City – The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch XII successfully wrapped up its 5th Regional Convention of Industrial Peace Advocates, carrying the theme of “Industrial Peace Advocates: Enhancing Labor Relations as Partners for Change”, on November 17-18, 2016 at the Phela Grande Convention Center in General Santos City.

Industrial Peace advocates from different companies in South Central Mindanao and ARMM participated in the event.

“We are honored to have DOLE Undersecretary Atty. Dominador R. Say as one of our speakers in this convention,” RCMB XII OIC- Gerie D. Lampitco said.

Undersecretary Say’s presentation highlighted the end of illegitimate contractualization or ENDO, one of the DOLE’s eight point labor and employment agenda.

In his keynote message, Usec. Say stressed the importance of LMC in the achievement of industrial peace and ultimately progress and urged the participants to contribute to the achievement of industrial peace.

An update on the latest labor jurisprudence also supplemented the discussions on ENDO.

“We were very fortunate to also have resource speakers from the management and workers to share their insights in the issue of ENDO,” Lampitco said.

Other speakers invited by the branch were PMAP National President Jessie Rebustillo, FFW President Emeritus & FFW-ITUC Secretary Atty. Allan Montaño, Accredited Voluntary Arbitrator Atty. Josemar T. Albano and DOLE XII Sr. LEO Wilfredo Concepcion.

Other topic tackled in the convention is the on the implementation of a drug-free workplace or DOLE Department Order No. 53-2003.

A total of 259 participants coming from 127 organized and unorganized companies in Region XII attended the 5th Regional Convention of Industrial Peace Advocates.
